How to play Chkobba
Chkobba is a fishing card game, a cousin of scopa, played 1 vs 1 or 2 vs 2. You capture cards from the table by playing a card of the same value or equal to their sum, and score points at the end of each round.
1Cards
- 40 cards in 4 suits: Dineri ♦, Copas ♥, Trèfle ♣ and Spade ♠.
- Values 1 to 10: Ace = 1, then 2 to 7, Queen = 8, Jack = 9, King = 10.
2Deal
- Each player gets 3 cards and 4 cards are laid face up on the table.
- Once everyone has played their 3 cards, 3 more are dealt to each player, with nothing added to the table, until the deck runs out.
- In 2 vs 2, partners sit opposite each other.
3Playing a card
- On your turn, play one card from your hand.
- It captures a card of the same value, or several cards whose values add up to it (a 5 captures 2 + 3).
- If a card of the same value is on the table, you must take it rather than a combination.
- If your card captures nothing, it stays on the table.
4Chkobba
- Clearing the whole table in one play scores 1 chkobba point.
- At the end of the round, leftover cards go to the last player who captured, with no chkobba. Clearing the table with the very last card isn't one either.
5Round scoring
- Cards: 1 point for capturing the most cards.
- Dineri: 1 point for the most ♦.
- 7 Dineri: 1 point for whoever holds the 7♦.
- Bermeila: 1 point for the most 7s; if 7s are tied, the most 6s; if everything is tied, nobody.
- Chkobba: 1 point per chkobba made.
- A tie on cards or Dineri scores nothing.
6Winning
- Rounds continue until the chosen target: 11 or 21 points.
- The first player or team to reach it, without a tie, wins the game.
